Politico: Trump to attend elite annual gathering in Davos, Switzerland
President Donald Trump will attend the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, later this month, the White House announced on Tuesday.
“The President welcomes opportunities to advance his America First agenda with world leaders," White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement. "At this year’s World Economic Forum, the President looks forward to promoting his policies to strengthen American businesses, American industries, and American workers.”
Chief executives and world leaders such as French President Emmanuel Macron are expected to attend the annual gathering in the Switzerland resort town at the end of January. The annual gathering in the Swiss Alps has become a signature event for critics of “globalism,” making Trump’s decision to attend something of a surprise, especially after he concluded his first year in office by slashing tax rates on corporate America.
