Dacia is introducing its Sandero,
a five-door hatchback that's expected to be extremely keenly priced, at the Paris
motor show next week before the car goes on sale in right-hand drive
form in January.
Already receiving much coverage for its Duster SUV, which will cost from
£8,995, the Romanian company is expected to make the Sandero even better
value according to experts such as our own Honest
John, who suggests that a stripped-out base version might cost as
little as £5,995.
Renault UK, which is importing cars built by its Romanian sub-brand, says that
full pricing details and exact specifications will be released on October
17, when the car will be available to order.
The Sandero, along with the new Logan saloon, which won't be imported to the
UK, marks the introduction of bold styling. The interiors are said to be a
great improvement on previous Dacias, with modern facias with chrome
accentuations, and the latest (Renault-sourced) switchgear for a feeling of
greater quality.
Renault also claims to have worked on providing a quality feel thanks to the
use of higher grade materials, along with more precise fit and finish.
Honest John reports that customer satisfaction levels and residual values of
the Romanian-built cars are strong throughout mainland Europe, where Dacias
have been on sale for some time, gaining a reputation for good value and
ruggedness.
