Twitter unveiled new updates for its iPad, iPhone and Android apps on the company's blog earlier today, with new profile pages and a new interface on the iPad.
Profile
pages on all three apps now have a space for header photos, similar to
Facebook's cover photo. Header photos uploaded on a mobile device or
tablet will also show up in the web version of a user's Twitter page.
NBC's Today Show has updated its Twitter page with a cover photo after Twitter CEO Dick Costolo appeared on the show to announce the changes.
iPhone
and iPad users will now be able to swipe left and right through a
Twitter account's photo stream, and tap a selected photo to view it in
fullscreen mode. Android users can use pinch-and-zoom to get a closer
look at thumbnail images in a Twitter page's photo stream.
The
iPad app was "rebuilt from the ground up to make it fast, beautiful and
easy to use," Twitter Product Manager Sung Hu Kim says in a blog post.
The iPad app now has the same interface as the iPhone app and many of
the features previously built into the iPhone app, including a
"Connect" page for mentions and retweets and a "Discover" page for
popular news stories and trending topics. iPad users can also tap to
see photos, links and videos in fullscreen mode.
