Despite being
one of the world’s largest markets for pickups, VW doesn’t sell its
Amorak in the US, but is still prepared to tease us with this special
edition Canyon model designed for extreme outdoor sports.
A
previous amorak concept present the idea of a rugged off-road vehicle
in a striking color with classic accessories. This was said to have
triggered a positive reaction from the public, so VW will offer the
special edition in early 2013.
The
Amarok Canyon is based on the Trendline specification, finished in
‘Copper Orange’ paintwork exclusively for the special edition. Also
available as an option is a lamp bar with four headlights on the roof.
Other
features include the tinted rear lights, painted undercarriage guards,
black wheel arches and ‘Canyon’ badging on doors and tailgate.
Also finished in black are the redesigned styling bar, side sill bars and rear bumper, as well as a cargo awning.
The Canyon is
available with TDI engines in combination with permanent or on-demand
4MOTION 4WD and an optional diff lock on the rear axle.
The redesigned 17” ‘Roca’ wheels are fitted with 245/70 R17 all-terrain tires, with 18” available as an option.
Inside,
the partial-leather seats are finished in two-tone hide, with the bases
in ‘Moon Rock’, while the headrests and side bolsters are in
‘Anthracite’.
The stitching on the seats, three-spoke leather steering wheel and gear shift boots picks up the color of the vehicle body.
In
addition to ‘Copper Orange’, the Amarok Canyon will also be available
from in ‘Reflex Silver’, ‘Natural Grey’ and ‘Sand Beige’. As an
alternative to the styling bar and associated cargo cover, the Canyon
will be available with a hard top.
